If you're looking for the most immersive, adrenaline-packed games to play on the go then check out some of these top adventure games that are designed specifically for hardcore gamers! Some of these games are currently available in gaming stores and others are still waiting to be released as well. The following is a list of five of my favorite games that were designed for the modern gamer.
1) Ori and Cra: Worlds Collide 2
This is one of those rare adventure games where I had no idea how it was going to work. While there's not much difference between many other open world adventures I've played over the years, this game takes your character to the edge by placing them completely into an alternate reality. This means that they don't need to stay true to what we know or to how it's supposed to play out. You can roam around using any form of transportation to get from point A to point B, all while battling foes along the way.
It truly doesn't matter if someone has to die in order to win or if you just have to find yourself a new team mate that will help you survive. Playing with friends is fun too. There's also a massive variety of playable characters to choose from for you to try to mix things up a bit like no other mobile gaming experience has. However, if everyone has their own unique skills, abilities and perks then they definitely make for a great multiplayer team. Overall, this is hands down my personal favorite adventure games ever created!
2.) Resident Evil Village Edition (2020)
What separates Resident Evil from its contemporaries is its ability to create worlds that aren't linear. Rather than going into each and every town and having to explore every location, you'll have to use a variety of resources to aid your investigation and combat enemies while also trying to remain alive. That way, you won't discover the whole lore behind the story if someone gets killed in a different section than you've been exploring yet another time.
Furthermore, once you escape the area, you'll be able to return to save yourself by taking off again in the same section. It's really difficult to describe how amazing this game actually feels without giving away spoilers, so stick around for the full review!
3) Among Us 2020 (2020) - Free-to-play:
Among Us is about finding your fellow survivors and defeating all the members of "The Other." They call themselves "the other," but it turns out, what makes them the enemy? Is it because of something that happened back when they were alive? Are they the ones who caused you to become stuck outside last night? Do they actually exist? My answer to both of these questions came to mind when playing Among Us! With the exception of getting into fights, all you're focused on doing during your journey is trying to figure out who the other is and figuring out which areas they're hiding out in. You probably already got plenty of answers about who they were before you entered the game, but no more. And when you do manage to find them in your search, there's always a lot of fighting at stake with your survival.
Fortunately, once you realize that all of the "the others" aren't exactly "nice people," you start to think that maybe there are no evil creatures lurking outside. To combat this, you need to complete puzzles and engage your weapons often. When you're done with each mission, you'll receive a few rewards along the way that will help help keep the hunt alive and you can also recruit extra players or even start a second job. Plus, it's free. As far as I'm concerned, it's basically a masterpiece that should be played on at least once every day. That said, it may not be the most user friendly game out there, but it's certainly worth the wait!
4) Dark Souls (2018) -
Dark Souls isn't just an incredibly good horror RPG. It's also one of those stories of why I love horror games and why there are so many that haven't come out since 2007. At first, you might think, "You got me wrong!" Then you remember that Dark Souls has been out for eight straight years now and you feel very confident that you and your companions will stay safe and sound until when.
What you don't realize is that the number of cases of death in this video game continue to rise and even though you've managed to avoid the deaths of your entire crew, the number of dead bodies continue increasing year after year. Even if you have a choice, many will have died in a single place by accident and that's just the beginning. Now, let's dive into the details of Dark Souls and see how it compares to similar horror games.
5) No Man’s Sky (2019) - Free-to-play:
No Man's Sky is an online multiplayer shooter that encourages cooperative play with a large variety of aliens and robots. Every person chooses a role of either PvE Player, Bounty Hunter, Scout/Pilot or Guardian for their gameplay. Whoever owns this role becomes the boss of the spaceship that appears next door. Your job is to protect your colony from alien invasion and your main objective is to take down the alien. But it's not going to be easy when some bad guys appear. So, instead of killing your targets outright you’ll have to go around and destroy bases, farms and buildings along with enemies as well.
All of that can be accomplished through traversing through procedurally generated worlds filled with monsters, collectibles, NPCs that aren't human or alien, and more while completing bounties and making quick attacks. Just like Far Cry, this is one of those stories that feels like it could be a serious part of the storyline. Despite being pretty hard to beat, it’s sure to hold your interest and you can try it for FREE right here.
